An Ordinary Story

Chart Korbjitti has proved to be one of the sharper critics of the modernization and globalization of the Thai economy and society, albeit that his works appear only infrequently and tend to follow some of the less accessible traditions of Thai literature. In this (typically) brief collection of short stories, written mostly in the 1980's, he again takes up the cudgels on behalf of waning community spirit, the problems of Bangkok's traffic, and the culture of impunity that so besmirches Thai society, as the recent massacre of pro-democracy protestors so savagely demonstrates.
