Three Christmas Tales

When Charles Dickens wrote A Christmas Carol in 1843, ihe was already the acclaimed author of a journalistic sketdibook, six novels and a travel book. And yet A Christmas Carol set a new precedent for the writer whom readers on both sides of the Atlantic hailed as Englands great man of letters. So successful was this Story that Dickens wrote a new book for Christmas in each of the four years that foiiowed. Dickens described these five as "a whimsical sort of masque intended to awaken loving and forbearing thoughts."
