I found this a fascinating look at the Mayan underworld, which felt sort of like the idea of Aztec underworld is to Mayan Underworld as Greek mythology is to Roman mythology, in the way that they are similar but different. The story is very good, also, as it kept my interest the entire time, and I love how the protagonist is very heroic despite believing herself not to be a hero: she simply cannot disobey her conscience, and she has the courage of her convictions, to the bitter end. But then we get a really cool sort of Happily Every After, so this was a very well thought out and written story. With some biting social critiques, to boot.
