Almost loved it

I wish I'd loved it more... It seemed like everything I'd enjoy and recommend: I was stunned by the author's previous novel The Mercies and her writing, and the topic and story seemed engaging... But there's just a bit of something lacking. Maybe I just didn't find one of the characters that likeable, hence not understanding why the other was so much into her ; maybe it was the style that wasn't as notable this time—although switching points of views in the flow of the chapters is great writing—I just really wish I'd loved it more.
